• Science

  

  Thales works with prestigious labs and research centers worldwide, developing and manufacturing solutions that are used in leading-edge programs in the areas of particle physics, light sources and thermonuclear fusion.

  Today, we have expanded our offering to include the supply of turnkey accelerator sub-systems, taking charge of all steps from initial design to manufacture and integration.

• Telecommunications

  

  Traveling Wave Tubes by Thales set the global standard for data transmission in HDTV, direct broadcast, consumer broadband and military applications.

  We are also a partner in some of today’s leading international military programs, with our Ka-band TWTs in particular supporting system interoperability. Ongoing technical improvements in TWTs have driven an increase in transmission power and design efficiency for ground segments.

• NDT Security

  

  The security market is expanding rapidly. Both security forces and customs departments can call on a growing range of fixed or mobile inspection systems to immediately check luggage and cargo. Radiology is the technology of choice in terms of reliability and image quality, supporting the real-time inspection of objects in a wide variety of sizes and densities. To inspect entire containers, particle accelerators use klystrons to generate very-high-energy X-rays.
  
  Thales provides X-ray generation and detection products for the non-destructive testing and security markets. These rugged devices are designed for a wide range of applications, such as industrial quality control and baggage inspection.

• Industry

  

  High-frequency tubes are used in a number of industrial processes, including drying, plastic welding, wood bonding, heat treatment, tube welding and laser system used in a number of different industrial applications. Thales offers a very broad range of products to meet these diverse needs, with performance and reliability that flow through directly to industrial yield.

• Broadcast

  

  Thales, a long-standing partner to most manufacturers of radio and TV transmitters, is the preferred supplier of grid tubes to the national operators in many countries. We are also a favored partner of manufacturers developing new transmitters designed to meet digital radio standards such as IBOC and DRM.

• Power amplification for Defence

  

  Thales provides electron tubes and amplifiers to armed forces, guaranteeing the performance of defense systems such as surface radars, airborne radars, broadband data links and electronic countermeasures.

  Thales has for many decades guaranteed the delivery of a complete range of microwave tubes to system manufacturers, covering a very large spectrum of frequencies and power ratings. Designed in conjunction with these manufacturers and the armed forces who will deploy them, our amplification solutions keep current systems up and running and boost the performance of new-generation systems.

  A pioneer in space applications, with decades of experience, Thales continues to contribute decisive technological improvements in key areas for space tubes, such as thermal management, power and efficiency, to significantly boost the transmission capacity offered by satellites.
